The Roadrunners saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end last Friday when they got swept by Lamar University in three sets. It was the first loss for the Runners since they fell to Weber State on Sept. 6.

The Roadrunners are one game away from finishing a five-game road trip, in which they are currently 11- 8.

In the Runners’ three set loss to Lamar (25-20, 25-19, 25-22), sophomore Kendra Rowland finished with 17 kills and two blocks.

On Saturday, the Runners were unable to turn things around as they fell to Sam Houston State in five sets (19-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-13).

The Bearkats mounted a rally from a two-sets-to-none deficit to sweep the next three in a huge comeback.

Junior Stefanie Robbins had 15 kills and nine blocks. Rowland got her 11th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 16 digs.

Despite consecutive losses, the Runners hold the best record in the west division of Southland Conference (SLC).

In their last game of a five-game road trip, the Runners will face McNeese State in Lake Charles, Louisana on Oct. 15.

The road trip ends this weekend as they host rival Stephen F. Austin, who is undefeated in conference (5-0), Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. in the Convocation Center.

The Runners have their hands full as they face the Ladyjacks (14-3), who are currently on a 12-game winning streak.

UTSA will have to be on the defensive because the Ladyjacks’ Lauren Railey had 16 kills, Ashley Bailey had 12 kills and Kelsey Owens had 15 kills in their victory over Southeastern Louisiana last week.
