Soccer in a slump, loses third consecutive match

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The UTSA soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Thunderbirds improved 1-5 on the season, while the Roadrunners saw their record dip to 3-6.

Stacey Brinkman put Southern Utah on the board at the 35-minute mark. UTSA then tied the match at one when Erin Mackay netted her first goal of the season with 10 minutes left in the first half.

In second half action, the Thunderbirds increased their lead to 2-1 when Michelle Judd scored in the 82nd-minute. Brinkman’s second goal of the match gave Southern Utah a 3-1 cushion with less then a minute to play.

UTSA returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 28, against TCU at the UTSA Rec Sports Complex. The match is slated for 1 p.m.
