Fresh off one of the greatest seasons in school history, the UTSA men’s basketball received an invitation to play in the 2011 Dick’s Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off.

The Roadrunners earned the eighth seed in the 16 team tournament after a 2010-2011 season that saw the Roadrunners finish with a 20-14 record after advancing out of the first round for the first time ever.

The first round of the NIT will begin on Nov. 14 with the Roadrunners in the Midwest regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma where the Roadrunners will face off with the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles. Also playing in Stillwater will be the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions who will play the host Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The second round of the NIT will see the winner of the UTSA-Oral Roberts game against the winner of the Golden Lions-Cowboys game on Nov. 16.

The other regions of competition are the North Regional with the Syracuse Orange hosting , the East Regional with the Virginia Tech Hokies hosting and the West Regional with the Stanford Cardinal hosting.

The winners of the preliminary rounds will advance to the semifinals Nov. 23 in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The consolation and championship games will be played Nov. 25.

The games of the NIT will be televised nationally on ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U and streamed on ESPN3.com.
