Coker

Football Head Coach Larry Coker and the athletics department have spent the summer preparing for the first season, which will start in the fall of 2011.

Coker hired three assistant coaches–Mike Menefee, Eric Roark and David Ross– in April.

Throughout the spring and summer they worked on raising funds for the program, as well as recruiting for the 2011 season.

They visited numerous San Antonio high schools in hopes of finding talented students who will be freshmen or sophomores in 2011.

UTSA students who are interested in playing will be able to participate in the walk-on tryouts.

Although they won’t be held until March, the process will begin this semester.

Students who are interested must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center and eligible according to the NCAA guidelines, submit a online walk-on form, attend the informational meeting on Sept. 1 and, once cleared as eligible, they must provide a proof of medical insurance and a physical exam.

For more information and to find the forms needed go to goutsa.com and click on the football page.

You can also contact the football office at (210) 458-5011.
