Election night at the Mavericks vs. Spurs game

By Stephen Whitaker

For most people, election night was spent on a couch or in front of a computer screen watching results of the Election unfold. For me and my three roommates, it was spent in Section 225 Row 21 Seat 4 at the AT&T Center. The reason for attending was a battle as heated as a presidential election. This night was not about one person vs. another person. This night was five-on-five NBA Basketball. The opponents were the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs.

I would like to take this time to let the record state that I am a Houston Rockets fan, but when it comes down to it I am just a fan of basketball. This game between the Mavericks and Spurs was the kind of game that people talk about for a long time, or in this case until these two meet up again in Dallas in December.

Now, about the event at hand, firstly, the location of the AT&T Center is great, it is not in or around downtown so parking is ample, and it is close to Interstate-10 and Loop 410. Secondly, there is not a bad seat to be had in the place. Our seats were two rows from the very top of the stadium, but at $13 we weren’t complaining. Even though the seats were higher than the championship banners, we were still close enough to read the numbers on the back of the jerseys and the name on the front.

The game itself was fast paced back and forth. Dallas took 54-36 lead into the half and didn’t look back winning 98-81. San Antonio attempted a comeback early in the fourth but a clutch Dallas three sealed the win and a 0-3 record for San Antonio.

There was no better way to spend an election night.
