8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Event: “University Career Fair: Working in Downtown”

The Downtown Campus’ Career Center is hosting a job fair open to all UTSA students and alumni. The fair will be held in the Durango Building Art Gallery room 1.122 and the Southwest Conference Room in room 1.124 of the Durango Building. For more information, call (210) 458-2910.

UTSA’s 2014 Rowdy Gras will begin at 11:45 a.m. as the parade moves from the Sombrilla to the UC Lawn in between the Ximenes Garage and the HEB University Center. The event is meant to celebrate New Orleans’ cultural tradition of Mardi Gras and will include free authentic Creole/Cajun food, beads, masks, face painting and jazz played live by DJ E-Phlat. Deco Pizzeria (1815 Fredericksburg) is having a poetry night where featured poet, Diamond Mason is set to perform. Mason from San Antonio and will be performing in Austin at the Women of the World Poetry Slam. Enjoy a night of pizza and great poetry at Deco Pizzeria. For more information, call (210) 732-3326.

6 p.m. Event: CAM Kick-Off Party

Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum (116 Blue Star) is hosting a kick-off party for Contemporary Art Month. Exhibitions from featured artists such as Rosane Volchan O’Conor, Claire Watson, Paul Rodriguez and Mira Hnatshyn will be on display during the night. The night will be celebrated with music, complimentary beverages and food on sale from San Antonio’s finest food trucks. Miss CAM San Antonio will also be crowned during the festivities. The San Antonio Symphony will be performing arrangements from Beethoven and Mozart at the Majestic Theatre (224 E Houston St.). Grab a few friends and seize the opportunity to dress up and listen to some classical music. Who knows, it might even raise your IQ a few points. Ticket prices start at $16.

Saturday, March 8

Noon: “South Texas Alamo Irish Festival”

This all day event celebrates all that is Saint Patrick’s Day. Taking place at the University of the Incarnate Word (4301 Broadway St.), events for the day include a parade, a traditional Gaelic Football tournament and a mini music festival. Real Irish food will be served and, for those 21 and over, Guinness will be readily available to accompany any dish. This event is family friendly and tickets start at $5.

7 p.m. Music: “Bret Michaels at the Majestic Theatre”

Bret Michaels will be performing at the Majestic Theatre (104 North Saint Marys St.) this Sunday. This rock legend turned reality TV star will be promoting his latest album, Bret Michaels: Good Songs and Great Friends. Ticket prices range from $39-$59.
