Fashion week

Attention all fashionistas and fashionisters! As you may know Fashion Week in New York has just taken place and we’re here to fill you in on all the latest trends for this fall and Spring of 2012. When we see a red piece of clothing, most of us think trendy.

Michael Kors brought out his inner Tarzan when he showed safari pieces in his new clothing line. The best way to wear a safari piece without going Lady Gaga is to minimize with the prints. Try not to add more than one print to avoid distractions during class for other students. Another way to show your spots is by wearing the print as a scarf. This will add a sense of chic and pizzazz to the outfit. Along with the safari prints, there were also some interesting patterns on the runway with bold shapes and colors. But if you prefer solid colors, other straight off the runway street fashion this year includes solid bright colored dresses, metallic pieces, and shirt dresses.

I know we’re all desperately anticipating the fall season because fall means layers, layer and more layers. As Coco Chanel said, “Fashion has two purposes: comfort and love. Beauty comes when fashion succeeds.” Oversized sweaters are in. These are perfect for giving you the comfort of being at home while making you feel fashionably incredible. Pair them up with some boots and skinny jeans and you’re good to go. Another way to layer up and keep warm this fall is to add blazers to the mix. These show-stopping pieces famously worn by Kim Kardashian make any outfit look fantastic.

Our favorite accessory has again appeared on the runway this year: side bags! These bags are ideal for everyday use. Hats are another fabulous accessory to add to the fall wardrobe. So when you wake up and have 15 minutes to get to class leaving you no time to style your hair, don’t sweat it! Just throw on a fedora hat, or for a more casual feel try a military hat.

This spring, turquoise will be all the fuss in every closet. The light, breezy color is perfect for a sunny day on campus or a stroll downtown on the River Walk. You can also wear it in the form of a BCBG evening maxi dress. No matter where you go, you can’t go wrong with versitile turquoise this spring.
