After a bidding period in the spring semester, from which bids from ARAMARK, Chartwells and Sodexo came in, UTSA decided upon the ARAMARK contract.

ARAMARK was the UTSA's food provider before losing their bid to Chartwells six years ago.

"I was not here at that time, but I understand that the university was looking to move in a different direction that was better represented by Chartwells' proposal at that time," Jane Wilcox, director of business auxiliary affairs, said.

UTSA freshmen admission standards change in 2008

There is no question that things are changing at UTSA, from the addition of academic and parking buildings, to the rise in tuition and fees and effective fall 2008, and now, the admissions criteria for first-time freshmen.

Students who applied for admission into UTSA for the fall of 2008 were the first to see a change in the university's admission criteria in quite some time.

Biden better qualified than Obama?

The nominee for President of the United States from the Democratic Party will face many obstacles in the coming months, but his most difficult to navigate will be the underlying thought that his Vice President pick, Sen. Joe Biden, should be the nominee.

While Obama got out of the primaries without his inexperience or lack of preparedness denying him the nomination, and he shored up that weakness with the addition of one of the best statesmen and politicians of our time, he picked someone who (at the end of this election) will leave people thinking "Why isn't Biden President instead of Obama?"

Joe Biden has been in the Senate for 35 years, he chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee for eight years ('87-'95), he has twice been the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee ('01-'03 & '07-present; as well as a brief month long stint in Jan.

While a busy summer schedule-complete with daytime sunbathing by the pool and nightlife that doesn't end until the eggs are frying-is something every student will miss, there is a lot to look forward to at UTSA this fall.
You've got 80 pages to read by 9 a.m. tomorrow, a two-page essay due at noon and the electric bill is not going to pay itself. It's all doable, but it's not going to be fun, not for your mind or your body. When you feel your muscles tying themselves into knots, and your mind surfing on 1000 brain waves a minute, the only thing left to do is relax.

"I didn't steal it," Charles Ingram jokes, pointing to an unfinished sculpture reaching out of a slab of marble that leans heavily against the wall.

"This one was actually what they call a 'discarded' tombstone."

"Normally, you just sandblast the name off, but this slab of rock was quarried specifically for a soldier or veteran, so I thought the sculpture's got to be something to do with that.
