This past week The Paisano recieved a hand-delivered letter to our office regarding to the "Vandals tag building" article published in the last issue.
The writers chose to remain anonymous and signed the letter ‘Students with an Agenda.'
Unfortunatly, due to Paisano policy, we are unable to print a letter without knowing the writer's name.
However, the issue they speak of is important and should be addressed. The letter is to all UTSA students and faculty and brings up facts regarding the use of marijuana.
The letter said that multiple buildings were tagged, not just the Engineering Building, but they were all done in chalk or washable crayon so it would be easy for UTSA staff to clean.
These students admit to having an agenda: "to see the abolishment of current cannabis prohibition, and instead work towards legalization, regulation and taxation of cannabis."
It is unfortunate that these students have to hide their identity while they work towards something they are passionate about. This letter shows how informed they are on the subject and the reasons they want to see it through.
The Paisano encourages any one of these students to step forward so that we are able to print this letter in a future issue for the entire UTSA community to read.
While The Paisano does not necessarily condone the tagging of school property, we do encourage all students to step forward and make a difference in whatever is important to them as these students have done.
However the independent newspaper, rather than campus buildings, may be a more visible venue.
