Food Review: Pam’s Patio Kitchen

Pam's

Communications major Luis Alanis, an avid food-lover calls it “The. Best. Sandwich. Place. Ever.” He asked me to place periods between each word and as I left Pam’s, I realized he was not exaggerating at all.

Established in the summer of 2003, Pam’s Patio Kitchen is a family-owned business that follows a simple, yet significant piece of dining philosophy, “only serve the food they love to eat. ” Ranging from exquisite sandwiches to salads that reveal the veggie-lover in everyone, there is a myriad of choices where no mistake can be made. The Vietnamese chicken sandwich, torta valencia and the Thai beef steak & romaine describe an array of international flavors. Their famous flame grilled fresh salmon consists of baby spinach leaves, tomato slices and focaccia bread topped with their homemade chipotle mayo.

A significant part of their menu consists of gluten-free dishes. The Mediterranean field greens contain crumbled feta cheese with olive oil balsamic vinaigrette. Their spinach strawberry pecan salad is sprinkled with sliced green onions, fresh strawberries, mandarin oranges, and toasted pecan halves topped with their own orange honey mustard dressing. Most of their soups are also gluten-free.

Beyond the food, Pam’s Patio can also be considered an art gallery. Paintings from local artists cover the interior walls, and are likely to spark interesting table conversations. All paintings are available for Pam’s customers to purchase and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the artists. Pam’s is simply honored to display the artwork.

New paintings rotate monthly so every visit always seems to be as fresh as their signature strawberry lemonade. Their repertoire is filled with upbeat music that is sure to add audible flavor to the overall fun experience. With a super friendly staff, service is top-notch and every customer is treated like family.

Former Spurs basketball player, Bruce Bowen and UT Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa are just two celebrities that frequent Pam’s Patio. Located off of Wurzbach and Lockhill Selma, a fifteen-minute drive is the only thing separating you from a tangy sandwich that is sure to stimulate your taste buds.
